The channel is called 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆. It focuses on the fascinating world of internet history and niche business lore starting with a deep dive into the business case study of Yahoo’s acquisition of Tumblr. Because the channel relies on archival footage and specific audio to set the tone for these historical breakdowns, staying clear of copyright hurdles is vital for their monetization and growth.

Not long after the channel began production, a copyright claim appeared from a company claiming to be the music rights owner of a track used in a video. The catch? 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 for the music title in question.

The client spotted the issue within their 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 > 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 > 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 section. It is a common misconception that YouTube always sends an email for every claim; in this instance, the notification was only visible within the dashboard, making it easy to miss if you aren't vigilant.

We reviewed the client's licensing documentation and confirmed they had 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 for clearance. As a next step, we advised the client to 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺. Given the evidence of a legal license, the claim was non-justified.

While automated rights management systems (like Content ID) are efficient for most, they frequently flag legitimate, licensed creators by mistake. By applying professional pressure and presenting clear documentation, we ensured the claim was addressed.

Yesterday, the claim was officially 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱, and the video is now fully cleared for monetization.
